you can undo.

Browse 393 verified US projects — sorted by distance from you. Buy one-off, or pick an auto-curated plan that covers your calculated footprint.
Track
Watch your Karma Score climb as you offset. Come back each year and see it grow — no leaderboards, just personal progress.
One number. Zero guilt.
Your score is the percentage of your calculator-based annual footprint you've covered with verified retirements. It starts at 0 and has no upper cap — keep offsetting and climb toward Carbon Nirvana.
- Personal, not competitiveNo leaderboards, no public rankings. You compete with last year's you.
- From matched to NirvanaAt 100, the ring turns blue — you've matched your calculator-based footprint with verified retirements. 200+ is Carbon Nirvana, our nickname for offsetting at least double.
- Always framed forward"You’ve offset 64%" — never "you still haven’t offset 36%."

Rigor you can audit.
Every project on Carbon Karma carries a verified credit from one of three independent registries. You can follow the link from any project page straight to the source record.
The world's largest voluntary carbon standard. Requires third-party validation, long-term monitoring, and public-comment periods.
The first private registry in the US. Operated by Winrock International with ISO-aligned protocols and rigorous additionality tests.
North America's leading registry for nature-based offsets. Known for conservative accounting on forest and grassland protocols.
The marketplace at a glance — drawn from the public OffsetsDB catalog, US-only, issued credits only.
Fair and practical.
Is Carbon Karma free?
The calculator is free and requires no account. You only pay the market price of the offset credits you purchase — we add a small service fee disclosed at checkout. No subscriptions, no hidden tiers.
How accurate is the footprint calculator?
We use EPA emission factors and zip-level eGRID electricity data for your region. The result is a reasonable personal estimate — not an audit — and it will update if you recalculate over time.
What does "hyper-local" actually mean?
Every project in our marketplace is a US project, sorted by distance from your zip code. Projects closest to your home appear first — so your dollars stay close to where you live.
Can I offset more than my own emissions?
Yes. Your Karma Score has no upper cap. A score of 100 means you've matched the footprint our calculator estimated for you with verified credit retirements; 200+ is what we call Carbon Nirvana. Some users fund their family's, their business's, or a cause's footprint too. The Carbon Karma Score reflects coverage of your calculator-based footprint — it isn't a regulatory carbon-neutral status.
Who verifies the projects?
Every project is certified by Verra, the American Carbon Registry, or the Climate Action Reserve — three independent standards bodies. We surface the registry link on every project so you can audit it yourself.
Undo a little. Then a little more.
Most people offset a year's estimated footprint in a single afternoon. You'll know exactly where each dollar went, and you can come back as often as you like.
